The Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church will soon be two years old. The church started meeting for Sunday worship on March 12, 2017. God has moved in marvelous ways. Pastor Sukprasan, the mother church pastor, has been invaluable in providing guidance, encouragement, and even manpower. The church is moving forward in three significant ways. First, the new church is moving forward in having adequate Thai pastoral leadership. Praise God, Sittichai (front center of picture in black), the Bible School student who has served on weekends since August 2017, has agreed to do his year internship at the church. Pastor Sukprasan (back center in light blue) will be his mentor. The internship will begin in August 2019. We are praying that God will call Sittichai to be the full time Thai pastor after his year internship is over.
Secondly, the church is moving forward in being financially self-supporting. This means that the members faithfully tithe so that the new church can pay the regular expenses of the church including the Thai pastor’s salary, independent of foreign funds. This includes a functional financial system that is handled by the Thai church members with a Thai treasurer, who is not the pastor. Praise God, Pastor Sukprasan will begin to set up a finance committee for this new church. Up until this point, a missionary has been the treasurer and handled all the finances.
Thirdly, the church is moving forward in having sufficient lay leadership for the essential ministries of the church. There needs to be some form of church governing committee. There should be Thai lay leaders trained and actively doing various ministries in the church such as evangelism, discipleship and leadership training. Praise God, this is starting to happen too. The Evangelism Explosion seminar that Pastor Sukprasan led last November for ten members of the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church has been producing fruit. Our missionary colleagues praise God especially for the teenagers who are actively sharing their faith and bringing new people to church.
Please pray for the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church, that God will continue to establish it as a church that honors and glorifies the Lord. Pray that many more Thai will come to saving faith in Jesus.
