Ed and I are heading back to the USA at the end of June for our year of home assignment. We recently met with Sukprasan, pastor of our mother church in Mahachai, and Sittichai, pastor of where we are currently serving in Baan Paeo, to make plans. We discussed how the churches can continue to support each other, how the churches can continue to reach out to their “Jerusalem”, and how the churches can come together to begin the next daughter church in Baan Bo.
Baan Bo is a community of 30,000 people and currently has no visible church. It is located half-way between Mahachai and Baan Paeo.
“Baan Bo” literally means “house by the well or pond.” The community is situated in a low-lying area off the gulf of Thailand. There are still problems with some of the streets flooding when the tide is high, but there has been much infrastructure improvement over the last several years. Right now, it is more of a “pass-through” type community, but there are signs of further development which would make it a destination community.
Our plans right now are to move to Baan Bo when we return from our home assignment and partner with these two churches to help them plant this new church. The Covid situation over the last two years thwarted our initial plans for outreaches. But we know God is in control and is preparing a people for Himself.
“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.”
