Praise and Prayer Requests – December 2018

Praise God for the good responses to the Evangelism Explosion training at the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church in conjunction with their mother church. The teams were able to visit seven people.  Four of these people indicated they wanted to ask Jesus into their life.  Two of these four have come to church. One of these new believers is Manop, Ahn’s dad.  Please pray for each one that heard the gospel, that the seed will bear fruit in their lives.  Pray for those that indicated interest in asking Jesus into their lives, that they will grow spiritually and have solid faith […]

Thai Believers Learn To Share Their Faith

Blessed to bless!  2 Timothy 2:2 in action!  Ten believers at the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church are joining with five members from their mother church, the Mahapawn Living Water Church, for four weeks of special training in how to share their faith more effectively.  Pastor Sukprasan, from the mother church, will be the main coach, assisted by Sittichai (Bible School student serving at Baan Paeo) and the church planting team.  Beginning this Saturday, November 10, and for the next three Saturdays, these 15 people plan to meet, learn more about how to succinctly share the good news of Jesus, complete […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – Nov. 2018

In Thailand, the rainy season is ending and the “cool” season is beginning. The children are starting back to school for their second semester after the October mid-school year break.  Please pray for the children and teenagers at the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church.  I think of the Saturday Kid’s Club children that I was privileged to teach for 2 ½ years.  Some of them started with the group as kindergarteners.  Now as they get older, I know they will face more temptations from the world.  Pray that they make good choices and continue to follow Jesus.  Pray that they all […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – October 2018

We have been warmly welcomed in all the churches we were privileged to visit this past September. Delicious church fellowship dinners, meals with pastors and church members, ladies’ tea, men’s breakfast, youth nights with refreshments, meals with our host families…we are being well fed!  There have been surprises along the way:  sharing about Thailand in a local school, attending a high school football game and the church’s 5th quarter outreach, church hay rides, and watching fireworks that one pastor set off after the missions’ conference.  We were also asked to attend one church’s mission’s committee meeting so they as a […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – August 2018

The Home Assignment Ministries Seminar in July went very well. We appreciated the wonderful worship services and times of spiritual renewal.  It was also good to reconnect with colleagues from around the world.  The retirement seminar that followed was a highlight for us.  Though, Lord willing, we still have many years to serve full time overseas, it was great to get a heads up and healthy perspective on retirement.  We love how the C&MA is so pro-active.  They really take good care of us as International Workers.  Thanks for praying.   The Summit Grove Family Camp was also very uplifting. Who is Waiting for You?

It had already been hard to hold back the tears as the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church began their farewells on our last Sunday with them before home assignment.  I had been brushing off the comments for several weeks as our Thai brothers and sisters expressed how they would miss us.  “It’s only a year!” I would say cheerfully.  Packing up the house was hard enough.  Moving is always stressful for me.  I didn’t really want to deal with the goodbyes too.  But a timely reminder from Tim Crouch (VP International ministries) encouraged us to grieve well as we transition.  “Let […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – July 2018

Praise God, we arrived safely back in the USA to begin our year of home assignment. The Lord has provided a beautiful home for us to live in for the year in York County, PA.  We have been busy with visiting friends and relatives, moving in, and getting used to living in the USA again.  It is amazing how things change in even just a few years.  We were able to spend a few days at the beach with both of our children.  Thank you for praying.   Mid-July we fly to Colorado Springs for our Home Assignment Ministries Seminar. We’re Visible!

Praise God, people are noticing the Mahapawn Baan Paeo church in various ways.  It may be the members, the church sign, the cross on top of the building, or the building itself.  We are the first visible church in Baan Paeo, a district in Samut Sakhon Province with over 90,000 people. A year ago we had an enthusiastic team from Simpson University help paint the outside of the three and a half story store-front building we had rented in January 2017. The “apricot cream” paint really helped the building stand out.   We were able to put up a church sign […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – June 2018

Praise God, the first truck load of things went into storage at our mission office in Bangkok. The second and final load will be in two weeks.  It is quite an interesting process packing up a house.  Ed and I still use the old “mission” furniture: solid wood, mostly teak, made to order some 50 or more years ago by our missionary predecessors.  It is well made and very heavy.  Some missionary colleagues find furnished houses, or else don’t want to bother with the heavy mission furniture and/or prefers newer things.  But we are nostalgic.  When we move, we wrap […]

Church Camp

Full of excitement, twenty-three of us piled into the chartered bus parked near the church in Baan Paeo, on Saturday morning, April 21.  We left promptly at 8 AM, driving a half hour to our mother church to pick up anyone not driving to camp in a private car.  Members at the mother church had prepared lots of refreshments for everyone on the bus for our 2 ½ hour drive to the resort located along a river in the mountains southwest of Bangkok.  The much anticipated Church Camp had begun, with close to 60 people ranging in age from a […]
