Praise and Prayer Requests – April 2021

Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church   Praise God, we have been allowed to have in-person worship services since mid-March.  Pray for the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church to continue impacting the community for Jesus.  The church lost some momentum during the past 2 ½ month lock down with doing services exclusively on-line.  Pray for Pastor Sittichai as he leads the congregation.  Baan Bo   Ed and I are partnering with the Mahapawn Living Water Church (our current mother church) AND the Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church to plant the next daughter church in Baan Bo.  Baan Bo is located about halfway between the two churches.  […]

New Biker Ministry

“The young men are very interested in my motorcycle,” Pastor Sittichai commented, as he tweaked a few things on his new purchase.  He was able to buy a good used motorcycle with very low mileage.  It’s considered a “big-bike” in Thailand with its 200-cc engine and sporty black exterior.  Most motorcycles in Thailand are in the 125-150 cc range.  Motorcycles are the most common means of transportation here.  Oom stopped by with his friend Ert to check out the bike.  Sittichai invited them for lunch and to hang out at church for a while.  “I’m building the relationship so I […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – March 2021

Praise God, the Lord has led the Mahapawn Living Water Church, our mother church, to begin the process of buying a building to use for their ministry center.  The three-story building is double the size of their current rented facility and located just a few hundred meters deeper into the lane.  The closing date is the last week of May.  The church is very excited that they will be able to continue reaching out to the community with the love of Jesus. God has so graciously provided through the generous gifts of many donors, both in-country and outside Thailand.  The […]

Second Wave Blessings

Samut Sakhon Province, where we live, continues to be the epicenter of this second wave of Covid-19 infections that began mid-December.  Several field hospitals were set-up about a half hour from us to care for the thousands that tested positive.  After those first two weeks of a partial lock down, many businesses have gradually been allowed to re-open with proper health protocol in place. But due to the high daily infection rate, schools remain closed in our province.  The temples are quiet, except for funerals.  The nightly curfew remains in place.  But God is still at work. New church service […]

Praise and Prayer Requests – Feb. 2021

While the rest of the country has been gradually opening up after this second round of COVID, Samut Sakhon Province remains the epicenter and under stricter controls.  Please pray as we will need to stay on-line for our main services.  Pray that God will direct us to creatively still be the church, even with limited face-to-face interaction.  Pray that all our members will grow closer to God during this time. Ed and I have been able to get to know our neighbors more on the street where we live since everyone is trying to stay at home. Around 5 PM […]

The Christmas that almost was

The Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church had been perking away since our ten-week lockdown ended at the beginning of June.  In-person services cautiously started again, and we had great attendance, even guests. As schools opened in July, the children started to return to church too.  We ended our on-line service by the end of July because everyone was back, albeit with masks, hand gel and social distancing.  As the weeks and months passed, restrictions were eased, people got more relaxed.  Any small outbreak of infection was quickly traced and contained.  Samut Sakhon Province, where we live to the west of Bangkok, […]

“Song Dee” by Belle

Praise God, Belle (pronounced “Bale” by the Thai), at 19 years old, opened her own hair salon.  Only the power of God could a life change like this. Rescued twice from the pit I met Belle when she happened to be at her family’s roadside food stall, a 14-year-old seeker ready to sell her soul to Satan.  She had already dropped out of school and was into drugs, alcohol, boys…and feeling hopeless.  When I told her there was a better way…Jesus…she responded and found new hope in Him.  Intense discipleship followed.  Slowly, with God’s help, she shook off her old […]

Praise and Prayer Requests-Dec. 2020

Please pray for our upcoming Christmas outreaches.  The outreach at church will be on Sunday, Dec. 20 and will emphasize inviting unsaved family and friends.  On Thursday, Dec. 24, we will join our mother church for an outreach at a small elementary school in Baan Bo, the target area of the next daughter church.  Then on Friday. Dec. 25, we will be going into a local elementary school for an outreach to 120 students. In the afternoon of Dec. 25, we will give out presents to any child that is in the local hospital and offer to pray with the […]

God’s Hand of Mercy – Pastor Sittichai

“If it hadn’t been for God, I probably would be in prison right now,” Pastor Sittichai shared with the congregation.  He had just received his Bachelors’ degree from the Bangkok Bible Seminary the day before.  The Mahapawn Baan Paeo Church was celebrating this milestone in his life and had asked him to share how God called him into the ministry. “I was born into a Christian family but did not live much like a Christian.  In high school I got involved with a local gang, even though I was in a Christian dorm.” Sittichai hails from the mountains of northern […]
