Easter Happenings and more!

Hello, praying friends! We have a busy couple of weeks ahead and would love to have you praying with us for upcoming events and happenings! We have the Mosaic children’s Easter parties happening this Friday! We will see more than 100 children come through our doors! We also have an English student party on Monday, April 10. This is always a fun time for relationship building! Pray for safety for all involved. Mosaic will also have a Good Friday showing of the Passion of the Christ movie, and we are doing a community outreach even on the Saturday before Easter, […]

Merry Christmas!

Hello, praying friends! Merry Christmas! Hard to believe it is that time of year again! We are moving in fast forward at Mosaic International Church and English Center, with multiple Christmas events happening every week until Christmas! We have had a teen party, children’s parties, a ladies brunch, and still to come we have a Christmas movie night, a tourist trip to Bethlehem for our English students, and a Christmas Eve potluck. Mosaic is also partnering with a local relief ministry to gather warm blankets for families in need this winter season as part of our Advent celebration. Christmas is such a natural […]

Winter is almost over!

We have passed through the worst of the winter season in Palestine. The bone-chilling cold we experience in almost every building, public and private, is hopefully over. The sun is shining today and we rejoice in the warmth and light! The green that comes upon us quickly and disappears just as quickly is peeking out from the dry, brown ground. I hope all of our praying friends and family and warm and looking forward to spring! We celebrated Valentine’s Day with our English students at Mosaic English Center last week. It was a fun party that ended with a panel discussion […]

…and a time for peace…

Hello, dear praying friends. It is with a heavy heart that I write this update. As you may have heard, Israel/Palestine is in upheaval. Fear and mistrust is everywhere. Violence, hatred, racism–they are surrounding us. The desperate cries of the oppressed are becoming even more desperate. It would seem that evil is having its ugly way in this land. Jerusalem is seeing stabbings and shootings and angry mobs calling for death to “the other.” Military response is becoming harsher. Protests are becoming angrier. Rumors are flying through all communities about conspiracies and attempted kidnappings. Mothers are holding tighter to their […]

A Green Creations Opportunity

School is in full swing here now! Some tears fell before it all started, but the kids are adjusting well to the new schedule. We have seen God’s hand in small ways over the last week. Maggie has some new girls who joined her class. We see them as potential friends. Also, one particular student who has tormented and bullied Maggie since her preschool days transferred to a different school! The relief that washed over Maggie was amazing as she told us the news! Georgia was surprised to find that school is much “easier” this year (because she started this […]

Summer’s end

I can’t believe our summer is over already! After many days with temperatures in the 100s and upper 90s, we have returned to what is a more normal temperature for Ramallah and Jerusalem. It’s time for school to begin and schedules to change. Summer camp was a huge success! Thanks for praying for us during that time!  We had 2 groups of volunteers, one from Eastern PA and one from Illinois. They came and worked hard!  Thomas and Maggie were volunteers with the younger kids. They acted as translators for the kids and helped the volunteers with cultural understanding, too. […]

Mosaic English Summer Camp is here!

Dear Praying Friends, Summer seems to be flying by! We just returned from our family vacation and staff retreat in Cyprus. It was a wonderful 2 weeks away! My sister met us in Cyprus to spend our vacation week with us. Many of you prayed for her as she faced a serious heart condition last fall. It was wonderful to see her doing so well and to get to spend that time with her! Today we begin a new adventure with Mosaic International Church: our very first English summer camp! With volunteers from Eastern PA this week and a church […]

Summer is here!

Hello, praying friends! Our kids have finished their last exam and summer is finally here! Thank you for praying for our kids throughout this difficult school year. The adjustment has been tough on them.  We pick up their report cards tomorrow. They feel confident that they have succeeded.  Georgia Kate brought her report card home last week and she did exceptionally well considering she spoke no Arabic at the beginning of the school year! She had forgotten everything and had to start from scratch in 3rd grade! Not an easy challenge. With help from the special education teacher, she was […]

The end (of the school year!) is in sight!

Hello, friends and faithful pray-ers! It is hard to believe that May is here already! English classes at Mosaic finished at the end of April, but currently we are running Conversation Cafe for all of our students who want to come out and just keep talking. Our first week was fun, with some interesting discussion! Please keep the prayers coming for Mosaic, both our English center and our church. Our kids are finishing up their school year. It has been a rough couple of months. I know they are all glad the year is winding down. Thomas began his final […]

Easter Week Happenings!

Happy Easter!  He is risen! For us in Palestine, Easter week falls in line with the eastern orthodox calendar, so we at Mosaic are celebrating Easter on April 12 this year.  This is a week full of activities and we would love for you to be praying for us!  On Monday we have an English Easter party.  It’s a night of games and fun with a retelling of the Easter story and explanation of what Easter means to us.  On Tuesday there is an Easter drama being presented in Ramallah.  On Thursday, as an English class activity, we are showing […]
