Dear Friends and Family,
Our NE Germany team has invested in summer camp ministries for many years. At first we offered an English Camp for teenagers. In 2012 we began partnering with a German para-church organization to offer a summer family camp. This year in addition to those two camps we offered a camp for kids ages 8 to 11 with a “wild west” theme. Why “wild west” you might ask? We found a camp just two hours north of Berlin where the kids could sleep in covered wagons! It was exciting to spend time last week teaching the kids about God, concentrating on 1. Corinthians 13:13 and how faith, hope and love put us on the right path to a relationship with God. We were blessed with great weather and got to spend time hiking, swimming, horseback riding and enjoying a camp fire in the evenings. Jenna even got to celebrate her birthday there!
28 kids attended camp (20 boys and 8 brave girls). Some of those attending were kids we knew or had connections with through either our church or Dane and Jenna’s school. But others in attendance did not have any previous experience with Christianity. One of these kids, a 10 year old boy, chose to give his life to Jesus! Please pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to move in his life and the lives of all of the children who attended. We pray that they will either go deeper in their journey with God or begin to journey with Him. Another of the boys who attended is our neighbor boy; his family lives in the same house as we do. Please pray that his camp experience would be the start of his whole family understanding what it means to have a relationship with Jesus.
August 24-29 we’ll be working at our annual family camp. Don will be leading one of the kids’ groups and Sarah will be involved in the adult programs. We have a record number of people registered this year (80!) and we’re very excited to see what God wants to do in the lives of those attending. Please be praying with us for guidance, wisdom, health and great weather. Our greatest desire is to see these folks take steps forward in their journey with Jesus. May He do this work in all of us in the coming week!
Thanks for praying with us and for us!
In His Grip,
Don, Sarah, Dane and Jenna
