Dear Friends and Family,
It has been a while since we have updated you all! Thank you so much for your prayers and your encouragement in this time. It was great to see many of you at Summit Grove this summer. Here is a quick run down of our spring and summer and a look at what the next few months will hold for us.
In March we received approval from the C&MA to stay for another year of home assignment in order to work through educational issues for Jenna, who has been diagnosed with dyslexia. Since receiving an official diagnosis in the spring, the Lord has opened doors for us to get her the help she needs here.
At the end of May, Sarah and I attended the C&MA General Council in Columbus, OH. It was time of learning and listening as well as feeling God confirm again and again His direction for us during this extra year in the States.
In June we moved from a furnished rental house to the home we have owned and rented out to others while we were in Germany. The last tenant left in February and the house was in need of many repairs both large and small. We needed to fix it up and we needed to furnish it. We are grateful to those who helped us accomplish this feat! By the middle of July it was ready to go. Please email us if you need our new mailing address.
In July we were blessed to be a part of the district’s Summit Grove Family Camp. We were so appreciative of the teaching we sat under, the opportunities to share our hearts, as well as the amazing kids’ and teens’ programs the camp offered for Dane and Jenna. They didn’t want to leave on Thursday, but we had no choice, because we were heading to the airport to pick up friends from Berlin!
The last few weeks have been full of showing our friends around and traveling with them. It has been such a blessing to have them visit us. God used our time together to encourage us and them.
Now our kids are excited to be gearing up for a new school year here in America. Dane will be going into 7th Grade and Jenna will be going into 4th. Dane will continue playing soccer this fall and Jenna is hoping to do horseback riding in the fall and snowboarding in the winter!
We are excited about the opportunity to work more closely with some of the churches in our district in the coming year. We hope to encourage them as they bring a vision for God’s mission (reaching Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the Earth) before their congregations.
Please pray for the ministries that continue to happen among German, Arabic and Spanish speakers in northeastern Germany! We continue to ask God to refresh and anoint C&MA workers and to draw people to himself.
I (Don) will be going back on tour in the fall and visiting churches in Eastern PA and the Ohio Valley District. Please pray for us as a family while I am on the road and missing out on family time. Pray also for us as we seek the Lord for His next steps in regards to next summer and future ministry! We know He has amazing things in store!
In His Grip,
Don, Sarah, Dane and Jenna
