Summer Camps

IMG_1096

Dear Friends and Family, Our NE Germany team has invested in summer camp ministries for many years.  At first we offered an English Camp for teenagers.  In 2012 we began partnering with a German para-church organization to offer a summer family camp.  This year in addition to those two camps we offered a camp for kids ages 8 to 11 with a “wild west” theme. Why “wild west” you might ask?  We found a camp just two hours north of Berlin where the kids could sleep in covered wagons!  It was exciting to spend time last week teaching the kids […]

In our April 2015 update we shared with you the story of a man who came to Christ through the connections he made with Christian parents at the “Coloured World of Kids” pre-school. Yesterday we had the privilege of watching Daniel be baptized! What an exciting time it was. With his permission, we are sharing a photo with you and thanking you tremendously for your prayers. Please keep praying~ we desire to see many more living here in Berlin take that step! In June 2015 we asked you to pray for those participating in the recent faith course. Yesterday was […]

Cross on TV Tower

Dear Friends and Family, Thank you so much for all of your intercession on behalf of our faith course!  God has been revealing Himself to all of our participants.  At the beginning of our last evening together we asked them to write or draw a picture of where they have come from with the idea of faith and where they are now.  It was so encouraging to see how God has been working in each of their lives. One person was sharing about how she began the course with the intent of proving to herself that Jesus and faith were […]

Good Friday Service

We continue to work this month to offer events and meetings that we pray God will use to draw people to himself. Among others we’ll be involved in our normal church services, Youth Group, Kids Clubs, Children’s church, Emmaus Discipleship Course, Home Group, Art Gallery Exhibit, planning for summer camps, support work at the pre-school, ladies’ cooking evening and just spending time with the people that God puts in our path. Please pray for each interaction, that we would be anointed by the Holy Spirit and be worthy Ambassadors of the Gospel of Jesus. Two weeks ago at our home […]

Dear Friends and Family, We are so thankful for you who pray for us continually! Because of your prayers we can see how God is moving. We are thrilled to share with you that after 7 years of praying for Don’s good friend H. he has made a decision to begin the journey of faith! We are thrilled to see what God has in store for him. Last Thursday Don began teaching the Emmaus Course (a course on basics of the Christian faith) and his friend, H., decided to begin to take the course. In his own words, “it was […]

our most recent family picture

Dear Friends and Family, A few weeks ago the congregation at Freischwimmer held their annual meeting.  It was a great meeting and we saw God do some surprising things, including having the congregation express the desire to move from being a church plant to being an active church!  The official church planting service will be held on March 8th. One change that will happen as we move in this direction is that the congregation will now call themselves the “evangelische Kulturwerkstatt” (evangelical culture workshop).  For the purpose of our letters to you, we’ll probably refer to the church as EK. […]

The picture above shows how full the service was on November 9, 2014. This was not only the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was a day when our church dedicated five babies to the Lord! Many guests were present for the baby dedication. We celebrated new beginnings for the babies, the parents and for those who no longer live under the oppression of the East German government!   After some time of connecting with churches in Pennsylvania, as well as vacationing with our extended family, we find ourselves back in Berlin during the Advent season. […]

Friends & Family Camp Update

IMG_1838

Dear Friends and Family, We want to thank you all for your continued prayers, and especially for the prayers on behalf of our annual Friends & Family Camp! It has always been a highlight of our ministry year, and this year, due to vacation schedules, we had to rearrange some things and ended up meeting in October on the Baltic Sea in Poland. The accommodations were great and helped to build a great atmosphere amongst all of the families there. This year we had 68 people at camp, more than we’ve ever had in the summer! Many of the […]

Thanks for being faithful in reading the updates about what God is doing and showing us here in Berlin! Here are just a few praises and prayer requests for the month of July: ~ Throughout the World Cup, we have had opportunities to watch the games with friends. As we watched the game last weekend with our neighbors, it was interesting to be part of conversations that revolved around faith. We encounter people everyday who are either very closed to the good news or have no idea what it means to believe in Jesus. Please continue to pray for people […]
