Moto Trip Testimonies

Lots and lots of testimonies followed the moto/truck trip to encourage the youth and churches in Preah Viheah province a few weeks ago. Many had to do with God’s protection during a really strong rain and wind storm on the way home. The storm was so violent that more than five trees were knocked down onto the road where we were traveling – some barely missing the motos! But other than being blown around by the wind and drenched by the rain, everyone came through the storm unharmed. Thank you for praying for our protection!!

Other testimonies had to do with how God opened the eyes of the participants to the need for workers in God’s harvest field. At one church near the town of ‘Sa-eyem’, many, many people showed up for the service – some believers, some not yet believers. People were open to hearing the gospel, but the workers in this area are lacking. The fields are ripe for harvest, but the workers few. Seeing this needy area really affected the youth and adults who came from the Poipet area. They realized how blessed they are to have so many wonderful teachers in their own churches, while the church in ‘Sa-eyem’ had none. Pray that this eye opening experience would lead them to join in the mission to reach the lost – near and far.

One last praise from the moto trip — One young man on the trip joined us because his three sisters invited him (they needed his moto!) He was not a Christian, but still had fun with us and was exposed to the gospel in both word and deed. Within a week of returning, he gave his life to Christ! Thank you for praying!

God also provided a teacher to replace me at the Selaa Khmai Church. Chean, the pastor of the Living Water Church, has agreed to continue to work with the leaders of the Selaa Khmai church. Yaan, Chean’s wife, has traveled to the village with me every week for nearly three years to teach a discipleship class there, so it’s only fitting that they go together to minister. Praise the Lord for yet another answer to prayer!

Your prayers are powerful and effective. Please keep praying as we close up shop in Poipet.

Saturday, June 4th is our big goodbye party. I’m sure it will be a day of laughter, smiles and tears as the regional (district) churches meet at the Living Water Church to celebrate what God has done since the mission came to Poipet in 2003.

With only 2 1/2 weeks left in Poipet, I still have a good bit to do (including packing). Leaving can be physically and emotionally challenging (not to mention stressful), so I’d appreciate your prayers for these last weeks. Specifically, pray that I am able to find a small, reliable truck to transport my household items to Phnom Penh, where they will be stored for the year. I’ll be headed to Phnom Penh the middle of June and will fly home from there on June 21st.

Thank you for standing with me and the whole Poipet team in prayer and with your financial support. Look forward to seeing you in the coming year!

(Sorry again for no pictures. They won’t upload to the page, but you can check out my facebook (Kandi Lay) page for pictures of the moto trip.)
