July is here already!

For those who are wondering . . . yes, I’m still here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia!  Sorry for the late update, things have been busy, busy, busy this past month. It’s also been rainy, rainy, rainy and in the city, rain means flooded streets as the drainage system isn’t very good.

This past week we had to wade through the water to get to the railroad track community where the Bible School students and I share Jesus twice a week.  The folks who live there were surprised to see us, as they thought the deep, dirty water would keep us away.  But our willingness to go even when it wasn’t easy deepened our relationships with the community – and I noticed that everyone was more attentive and engaged as we shared Bible stories – both the adults and the children.  Just as Jesus’ suffering brought us salvation, our hardships (suffering) open the door to the gospel.  Continue to pray for God to call people in that community to Himself.

While some of you will be celebrating American Independence Day on the 4th of July, I’ll be headed to Siem Reap for the Cambodian C&MA mission’s annual Field Forum. We’ll be meeting from July 4-8.  Pray for our time together.  There is a lot of business to cover in our sessions together this year – with lots of changes to discuss and our field strategy to reevaluate.  Pray that God would direct our discussions and our decisions, so that the Cambodian Church will be strengthened and the Kingdom of God advance.

For those who have been wondering about the Cambodian National Election, it will be coming up at the end of July.  So far there hasn’t been much unrest related to the election, but one never knows in this day and age.  Pray for a peaceful election process and for God’s will to be done in Cambodia.

    Some through the waters
    Some through the flood,
    Some through the fire,
    But all through the Blood.

Praying for you and His ministry in Cambodia.
God bless you ‘real good’, Candi!

Wow, that is very deep water! Your commitment to Christ and your kids is being rewarded. Thank you for sharing what has been going on. We have moved to Lebanon, PA and so we are no longer attending FAC but we look forward to continuing to follow your ministry. Blessings!

Thank for your continued prayers. I’m sure you will be missed at FAC, but hopefully you’ll find a good church home in Lebanon. Blessings!
