Graduation and beyond . . .

Posted by Kandi on August 5th, 2019 | 10 comments

The Antioch Graduation on July 25th was a joyful occasion for the students, teachers, family and friends who attended.  What fun it was to see the first year students receive their certificates and the second year students their diplomas.  A teacher couldn’t be more proud.  Hanna, one of the graduating students, invited two of the children from the railroad track community to graduation, so I got to play ‘mom’ to the 10 and 12 year old girls, while Hanna participated in the program.  The girls had a blast and the 10 year old told me she wanted to go to Antioch school, too – she’ll just have to wait 8 years!  (See pictures of graduation below.)

The teachers at Antioch have been discouraged lately, as we have yet to have one new student apply to the full-time program for the school year that begins in September.  With the start of the new school year only a month a way, we are not certain what will happen – both with the full-time program and with the residence building.  The residence building has been under construction for two years and should be completed by now, but it is not.  All that can be done to push the builder forward has been done and although we have told him we must move in August, it is still not habitable.  So please pray with us this month, for God to lead us to young adults who He wants in the full-time program and for the timely completion of the 3rd floor of our building.  On a positive note, the interest in the part-time program continues increase.  Pray also for the development of the part-time program.

Thank you for your prayers!

Praying for God to bring the full-time students, as well as, getting the third floor finished. Praying that you and the others don’t get discouraged.

    Hi, Candi,

Thank you for sharing. Praise God for the graduation! The pictures are great! Praying for those full time students and getting that building finished. May you and the other staff and ministry folks keep your eyes, hearts and minds fixed on Jesus, and rest in Him. Love, hugs and prayers, Because of Jesus!

I echo what Pastor Rick said. Please don’t give into discouragement. I’m praying that God will get the glory through this situation and that He will act and build His church.

Thanks Su. It’s so easy to get discouraged, but turning my eyes to Jesus where there is always hope and even joy! Already God is answering all the prayers you and others are praying. I heard yesterday that we may have one new student already! Please keep praying for more – it’s hard to have a class with one person!

So glad to hear from you, to see you, and to see how God has worked and IS at work.

Praying for you during this time of waiting…we will pray for your request in prayer group this morning and will post it at church as well. Miss you!

Thanks Dawn. I appreciate you being the school’s prayer promoter at CAC. God is already starting to answer. I visited the building site yesterday and it was busy with workers at work. Perhaps we’ll get in there by the end of the month after all! Keep praying for more students, too!
