The First Day is Here!

Despite a rainy start to the day, the move to the new Antioch school location went well and more quickly than we anticipated.  The temporary living spaces for the teachers and students are adequate, but not ideal.  This, of course, causes some stress and tension, so please be praying for good relationships between the teachers and between the students in the coming weeks.  Pray that we will all have hearts of gratitude for all that God has done and given us.  (And that we will be patient as the third floor of our own building is completed in the next 2 or 3 weeks.)

The rooms that we are using are located in the Khmer Evangelical Church (KEC) office and meeting building.  The KEC is the C&MA national church in Cambodia.  Also living in the building is the Church President and his family.  Pray that Antioch School will develop a good and mutually beneficial relationship with the church president and the KEC Churches as a whole.

The students should all be arriving today and classes begin tomorrow (Tues, Sept. 3rd), so pray for a good start to the new school year!

On Sunday, I had the privilege of joining the Christ’s Love Mission Church (CLMC) in celebrating a baptism.  Sophea has been a believer in Jesus about two years and recently expressed a desire to be baptized.  Of course, in the city, it’s not easy to find a nice clean body of water, but they were able to locate a nearby swimming pool.

    Dear Kandi,
Thank you for your update. It’s critical that we “back home” be current with your work so we can pray with more focus. Praying for peace and charity with colleagues and students in your weeks of temporary living arrangements; they can be trying. But God will get His glory wherever He will! In His love,

Thanks for your prayers, Rhonda. School seems to be going well, despite the non-ideal facilities. As you say, to God be the glory!

Praying for the housing situation, Kandi. Hope your week of school went well. Continuing to pray…

    • Kandi says:

Thanks, Dawn. The 3rd floor is making progress and we may be able to move in within two weeks. The first week of school is going well – other than the students being a little overwhelmed with all the work they have to do. But as they get into the routine, I expect they’ll get use to doing homework every night.
