A New Year, A New Trimester

Posted by Kandi on January 29th, 2020 | 11 comments

As a friend recently said, “Where did January go?”

Thank you for your continued prayers for me and the work in Cambodia. Sorry you haven’t heard from me for a while, but I was having computer issues and then Antioch school started again and time raced by so fast, it’s February already.

The 2nd trimester of the Antioch Bible Institute is going well. This trimester I’m teaching Personal Spiritual Development (AKA Spiritual Disciplines), The Life and Letters of Paul (2nd missionary journey) and English and continuing to do the financial books for the school. Doesn’t sound like much, but it keeps me busy. Pray for the students. Pray that God will reveal Himself to them and show them the parts of their lives that are not yet surrendered to Him. Ask that God would give wisdom to the teachers to help in this process of growth.

Pray for strength, energy and wisdom for the coming week – Feb 3-9. It’s going to be a particularly busy week since three of our teachers will be unavailable to teach and the rest of us are picking up lots of extra classes.

And please continue to pray about the need for another Cambodian teacher couple. There will be five of us leaving between June and August and the remaining teachers will need at least one more teacher couple to keep the school running.

I’ve also been trying to give more time to the young adult church that I’ve been a part of this term – Christ Love’s Mission Church. The church committee (or board) just started a weekly small group for just the committee. They are using the first few months of 2020 to figure out what it means to grow in faith and care for one another in this small group. In a few months, we hope to divide the group into two and invite other church members and friends to join. The vision is to create multiplying small groups. Pray for the leaders of the church to get on board with this vision and grow a bigger heart for the lost around them. Small group ministry can be an effective way to reach out and show the love of Jesus to many disconnected young adults in the city.

And for you dog lovers, my dog, Luna, will be expecting a litter of puppies around Valentine’s Day. It’s a whole new adventure for me!

Really sounds like you don’t have any free moments, Kandi! Our prayers continue for you and your team of teachers and also for your students.
Be thinking of you and Luna and praying all goes well with the puppies delivery!!
Very anxious to see you after you arrive back in Pa.

    All our love,
    Uncle Paul and Aunt Doris

Thanks! Hope Uncle Paul is feeling better.
Luna is acting funny today, so I think the time for the puppies to come is close.
      Will see you in July!

    Kandi,
I want to share a special story about your visit to our church, Lewisburg Alliance Church. When you were here and gave your report, you shared a story about a family. In that story, you spoke of how a relative said” her name has been written in the book”. After the service, my son wanted to make sure”he was written in the book”, and I led him to Christ. Been praying faithfully for your ministry. God Bless!

    • Kandi says:

Thank you for your encouraging story and for your faithful prayers.
May you and your son see many more people have their names written in the Book of Life!

Kandi when you get back you need to sit in on our small group lead by Bill Hench. It is a great spiritual growth class!!
    Praying for you.

    • Kandi says:

Thanks Ceal. Sounds like a great class to have at the church – I’ll have to check it out.
I’ll keep you posted on the puppies.

  4. Rhonda Mechtly says:

    Dear Kandi,
You certainly wear many hats, but God provides you the perseverance and patience you need. Praying for His sustaining empowerment for you and the students this trimester. Also praying His supply of the couple to fill the teaching gap as furloughs begin. And for your new young adults church involvement I pray for the Holy Spirit to encourage spiritual growth in hearts to exhibit Christ’s love for each other and the lost. May Jesus continue to bless your efforts in His Name!

  5. Grace DeLay says:

Puppies! Congratulations? But seriously, it’s understandable that you’ve had so little time to write. We’ll pray for the needs you’ve mentioned.
