God is in Control

“God is on His throne. God is in control.” This what God was saying to us at the Cambodian CMA Mission’s recent Prayer Retreat. In the midst of the spread of COVID-19 around the globe, we need to be reminded that our anxiety and fear isn’t the most important thing. God is and always has been in control.
How timely it was to receive this word, because the next day, two more cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, bringing the total to seven. There are likely many more than seven in Cambodia as they just don’t have the capacity to do lots of testing like more developed countries. The Cambodian government then decided to stop receiving visitors from several countries (USA being one) for the next month and they asked that the schools be closed in Phnom Penh.
So what does this mean for the Antioch Bible School? After considering our options, we have decided to remain open and try to finish the current trimester which is three more weeks. Our school is not large – only six full-time students and we live together as family, not coming and going like a normal school. We are, of course, taking extra precautions. (We even wonder if we haven’t already gotten the virus and recovered, as many of us were sick in December and January with a similar illness. Cambodia has a lot of Chinese coming and going and it’s possible the virus got to Cambodia before it was identified as a problem.)
Pray for the students and teachers as we push forward to finish up this trimester. Pray that we would not get so inward focused that we don’t take the opportunities all around us to tell people about God’s power and love, as well as, show it to them in practical ways.
Our recruiting for a new teacher couple has been put on hold because of the virus, but is still a need, so please continue to pray.
God’s blessing be upon you as you, too, weather this storm while holding to the one who never changes.
