A New Ministry Group & Covid

Antioch graduates, Nhieu and Rebekah, asked the school last month to help them start a children’s ministry in the community into which they recently moved. (This is the couple I spoke about at some of your churches. ) Many of the children do not go to school and have parents that are drug or alcohol addicts. It’s a very needy community and one which Nhieu and Rebekah what to reach out to with the love of Jesus. The Antioch School sent a teacher and two students to help get things going and it was a rough start as the children aren’t use to any structure. But they are learning, not only how to sit still and listen to the Bible story, but how it applies to them and their life.
Unfortunately, Omicron Covid has made it to Cambodia and the group is taking a break as more people in the community are sick. Please pray with us for God to open the door to continue reaching out to these kids. Pray also for Nhieu and Rebekah who are worried about getting Covid since Rebekah is due to deliver her first baby in a few weeks.
Omicron has not only made it into Cambodia, but it’s made it’s way on to the campus where the Antioch School is located. A young woman who lives on the property, but is not a student, has recently contracted Covid. She interacts quite a bit with the students and teachers, so we are all stepping up our mask wearing and social distancing. I’ll be testing those who were close contacts on Wednesday, so we’ll see. Other than masking and taking a break from some of our ministry groups, life continues as normal at the school.
The increase of Covid cases in Phnom Penh is also effecting the C&MA Mission Annual Prayer Retreat which is scheduled for this weekend. Some families are sick and others are close contacts. Pray for the planning committee as they try to figure out the best way to do things or if we should just reschedule.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
