The Good and the Bad

“Will you come tomorrow?” our neighbor’s son, Lot, asked. His grandmother, Bong P, chimed in. “Yes, you can come every day.” This was the response of our neighbors when Sokha (an Antioch student) and I visited them last week. Both the grandmother (who is my age) and her grandson (7 years old) are eager to have us visit them often. They are very interested and want to hear more about our faith. Bong P told us she had some exposure to Christianity in her younger years but has forgotten everything. It’s a joy to teach those whose hearts are prepared to receive.
Pray for both Bong P and Lot. They are open, but the enemy will not be pleased. Even while we were talking to them about the characteristics of God, a fortune teller/witch doctor showed up at their door. He was very aggressive, but when Sokha told him we were Christians, he hurried away. Pray for God to protect them from the attacks of the enemy and bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Pray also that others in the neighborhood would join us for the Bible storying.
Last week was a stressful week with the busyness of the school, now in full swing, and with the C&MA Family Home (guesthouse). The Family Home has some serious electrical problems and it resulted in a small electrical fire. Because of a church conference this week with lots of guests, we are unable to make repairs but the following week we hope to close in order to do some needed rewiring. Pray that the electricity will hold out for our guests this week.
I’d appreciate your prayers for me, too. It’s hard enough trying to balance all my responsibilities when there aren’t problems at the Family Home, but these added electrical problems are making it even more difficult. However, I am very grateful for teammates and our maintenance man who know about electrical problems and have been helping a lot. Don’t know what I’d do without them!
Thank you for your continued prayers.
