The Beginning of Rainy Season

Hello Praying Friends and Family~ We are happy to report that rainy season has begun, and that means cooler temperatures most days. It is refreshing to leave behind 105 degrees on a daily basis and trade that for lower temps and a little more humidity! There is more joyous news! We have successfully passed our oral and written exams for our first of four language units. Thank you for praying! God is so faithful! This week we concentrated on memorizing several passages and a prayer as well as work on some pages in our phrase book. We are looking forward […]

Waves!!

Waves….all different, yet all advancing towards the shore. While on a week’s respite in Senegal, I had the opportunity to observe waves.  You can sense their desire to make it as far as they can, even into the dry sands.  They seem to have plenty of energy to do so, but they are thwarted time and time again.  Those unsuccessful waves and their outgoing remnants destroy their incoming cousins.  You’ve seen it!  As I watched and even rooted for some of them to “make it” to new territory, I was struck by how similar this battle is to the […]

Broken Yet Useful

Greetings dear friends and family from West Africa! We are well blessed and immersed in this culture and climate! I, Ross, encountered these chairs several times during my morning jogs before returning to take a photo. Their “apparent uselessness” struck me as I observed their broken legs and arms, but their “assisted usefulness” intrigued me. How many of us would have immediately placed them in the trash? Probably most of us, but not their owners here! They saw usefulness even in their brokenness and extended their days with the help of a sturdy wall. Hmm…………… In Exodus 4:10-12 we read […]

Thankful for 2016 ~ Excited for 2017!!

Dear Faithful Supporter,   We rejoice in the TRUTH of our Savior’s coming!  Our celebrations here were overflowing with joy!  Amazing Blessings!  The music, dancing, singing and sense of belonging to the minority faith here renewed us afresh!  All Praise to God!   We are on the cusp of launching into Bambara language study and teaching our first EFL classes in January.  Although teaching is much more comfortable than tackling another language, our reliance on the Spirit is just as necessary if we are to have Kingdom impact on our students.   The rhythm of life here is becoming more […]

Awaiting His Birth . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Dear Friends and Family~ Our partners while living life in West Africa~ We send you warm greetings from a relatively cool and dry Mali (86 º F with 20% RH with zero chance of snow)! It is a far cry weather-wise from what our PA brothers and sisters have experienced over the last week!  We all face this time of “expectant waiting” no matter where we find ourselves geographically.  We are waiting to celebrate the birthday of Jesus, God incarnate, who walked among us in human form, took our sins upon Himself and died a horrible death and defeated it, so that […]

SETTLING IN & BEING THANKFUL!

PART ONE: SETTLING IN   We find ourselves in our new country of Mali for three weeks now. The time has gone by so quickly as our days have been filled with overseeing some work done on our new (old) home, moving in and unpacking, going to some Go Global events and teaching our first class! In addition, our team has been very good at taking us to places to purchase items we need for our home as well as visiting grocery stores, some specialty stores and the open market. This morning at Malian worship, the pastor shared from 1 […]

On Our Way . . . . . . . . . With Excitement and Anticipation!!

The time has come!  As you read this, we will either be in route to or in Mali.  We are blessed to be able to tell you that we have received all of the official clearances needed to join our team in Bamako.  Our arrival in the capital city is scheduled to be Monday, Oct. 31 at 10:25 pm (6:25 pm EST).  It has been a joyous, yet challenging, period as the Lord extended our three week trip to the US into 3 months.  There were many wonderful times of connecting and sharing.  Now, we go where we are called […]

Anticipation on the Rise!

Dear teammates~ You may be wondering what is happening with the Moores.   Here is the latest.  We are still waiting. Elaine is doing very well.   Praise God that He did arrange for our second opinion appointment to be moved up three weeks due to a cancellation!  We are pleased to say that the specialist is fully in favor of us going to Mali.  According to her, the condition that Elaine has is “the best” irritable bowel disease a person can have.  We now have a check-up with our diagnosing doctor on the 19th.  It appears that once we have the […]

A Time of Waiting!

Dear Teammates! (AKA- Friends and Family!) God has seen fit to change our three week plan in PA, leaving August 17, to more like three months. Elaine has two doctor’s appointments in mid/late October which we hope will give clearance for our departure to Mali.  We have said that it was like we were in the plane, at 5000 feet, door to the plane open, parachute on and hooked on the line, ready to jump and all of a sudden . . . . . . .  the door closed and we were returning to the airstrip. We don’t know […]

He is Worthy of Our Worship ……….. No Matter What

Dear friends and family, We wanted to share with you that we were not able to leave for Mali this past Wednesday evening as planned. Elaine has been diagnosed with mild Crohn’s colitis that requires us to stay in the states for two months while she undergoes medical treatment. This finding was not expected, but we are thankful that the Lord revealed the truth of what was happening in Elaine’s body so that we can know how to pray and be treated. We have talked with our leadership about this news and how it affects our traveling to our team in […]
