We are grateful for this opportunity to join “cma-stories” and for being able to get the good news out about what God continues to do in Burkina Faso.
We have been so blessed to work in West Africa for just over 20 years. Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso was our home for 10 years after our time in Ivory Coast, and we continue to celebrate God’s faithfulness as we have seen Him work in powerful ways in and through our Burkinabe brothers and sisters.
We have the privilege of being on the board of Dorcas House, a center for young women ages 15 to 25. We have been engaged in this center since its inception in partnership with Alliance Women Burkina. By God’s grace we have the opportunity to return each year to Burkina to continue to encourage the work there. Amy’s primary involvement is in Dorcas House and Steve in continuing education for African pastors.
Dorcas House has graduated over 30 graduates of a 2 year program. 22 women live there currently involved in a 4 fold program designed to empower young women with life skills, training in sewing and fabric dying, gardening and caring for animals, living in community, reading and writing in French and the study of the Bible and spiritual principles that can guide their lives.
We accepted the invitation to work at Nyack College and Graduate School to work in the Intercultural Studies Departments with the vision to invest in vibrant young global leaders who are preparing to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
We are grateful to have our children near us here and to be able to be in contact with our parents.
